An action RPG set in 1406.

Hi, I'm Alex, a software developer from Austria with over ten years of experience. In November 2025 I started Dannberg alone, as a passion project: the kind of RPG I've always wanted to play.

Built so far

  • People who follow their own daily routines
  • Conversations with real choices
  • Quests that branch depending on what you do
  • In-game cutscenes
  • Real-time melee combat
  • Changing weather and a full day and night cycle

Dannberg is still an early prototype, built in Godot. Much of the groundwork is in place, but there's very little content yet. My goal is a first small playable demo sometime in 2027. There's still a lot to build, and I'm looking for someone to build it with me (see Join).

Vision

You're no chosen hero, just an ordinary person who stumbles into other people's affairs and the county's mysteries, and bit by bit uncovers where you come from.

The world

Every NPC is meant to be unique, with a personality and a daily routine of their own. Day turns to night, and rain, fog, wind and thunderstorms come and go.

Exploration

No quest markers, no waypoints. Leave the path and you might find something no one told you about, or something you should have stayed away from.

Combat

Real-time combat is a core part of the game, and the goal is a wide range of medieval weapons and fighting styles.

Join

I'm looking for a real partner: a pixel artist with ideas of their own who wants to build something as ambitious as Dannberg together. Ideally you'd also like to shape the maps, the story and the quests, not only the art.

You'd have a real say in where Dannberg goes, and a fair share of whatever it earns one day. It's self-funded with a limited budget, so I can't pay a salary for now.

If that sounds like you, or you just want to chat about the game, I'd be happy to hear from you on Discord or by e-mail.
